壓花玻璃是采用壓延方法制造的一種平板玻璃，在玻璃硬化前用刻有花紋的輥筒在玻璃的單面或者雙面壓上花紋，從而制成單面或雙面有圖案的壓花玻璃。

壓花玻璃的表面壓有深淺不同的各種花紋圖案，由于表面凹凸不平，所以光線(xiàn)透過(guò)時(shí)即產(chǎn)生漫射，因此從玻璃的一面看另一面的物體時(shí)，物像就模糊不清，形成了這種玻璃透光不透明的特點(diǎn)。另外，壓花玻璃由于表面有各種方格、圓點(diǎn)、菱形、條狀等花紋圖案，非常漂亮，所以也具有良好的藝術(shù)裝飾效果。

壓花玻璃的通透性，因花紋、距離的不同而各異。

按其通透性可分為近乎透明可見(jiàn)的、稍有透明可見(jiàn)的、幾乎遮擋看不見(jiàn)的和完全遮擋看不見(jiàn)的。
